Plat du jour

When you work in the EC, you have access to several canteens spread around the various Commission buildings. You have to show your badge before getting in and, as a trainee, you can have the plat du jour (always with a meat and a fish option), a soup and a piece of bread for 3,75€. You can also find a great variety of salads, other dishes (like vegetarian, pastas, grills) and desserts, although for those the trainees pay the regular price. Almost everyone working in the EC eats in these places, so you just have to find the one nearest your building and take the chance of enjoying the lunch hour with your Unit's colleagues or other fellow trainees.
